As you may have heard, NDs are able to gradually restart providing in-office services again. I plan to return to both of my clinic offices starting on Thursday June 18th . I will only be practicing the 1 day each week for the next few weeks out of each office, before gradually opening more days.
I will be returning on a gradual basis, first prioritizing patients with urgent treatment needs, and I will also be doing fewer treatments per day than I normally would. This is so I am able to reopen in a safe and measured way, keeping your health my top priority.
Policies and Procedures
I have implemented many new policies and procedures, based on the guidance of my regulator, the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, and the Ministry of Health in order to keep my patients as safe as possible. This includes enhanced COVID-19 screening procedures, increased cleaning and disinfecting, focusing on hand hygiene and altering my clinic space, as well as wearing a mask throughout the treatment and asking patients to do the same.
Your First Appointment
To make your first appointment during the COVID-19 pandemic as stress-free as possible, and to make things a bit less overwhelming, I will share a few guidelines created by our clinic outlining what you can expect in a future email after we confirm a date and time for your appointment.
My priority will always be keeping my patients safe, and I will help guide you through all of the new policies and procedures so you can feel as safe as possible when you come in for a treatment. Once you have booked an appointment, I will screen you virtually for COVID-19 as well as send you a reminder of what you need to bring and what you need to do once you arrive. If you have any questions or concerns, I would be happy to help in any way possible.
I appreciate the support, understanding, and patience of my patients during this unprecedented time as we all navigate this new reality.
I look forward to welcoming you back to my clinic as safely as possible once you’re ready to book an appointment! I will continue to keep you up to date on any new requirements and safety precautions I have taken as this pandemic continues to evolve.
If you would like to book an appointment for next week or a future week, please just email me back with a time that works best for you.
Online video sessions have been another means of connecting with my patients, so going forward I will keep this option open for patients who find this platform helpful.
Online visits may not be ideal for all concerns – if you’re not sure if this is right for you, I offer a 15 min complementary session to introduce you to the online platform and determine if it's a good fit for you.
When conducting online video sessions, I use a secure platform called "OnCall Health" that is encrypted and compliant with both the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
With the current health risk of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Dr Albert Iarz, ND at New Roots Therapy will be temporarily moving our services to exclusively online video sessions until further notice for those that are deemed to have essential health needs. We are highly committed to the health and wellness of our clients and team members, and our intention in moving to strictly electronic sessions is to minimize the risk of exposure to illness while continuing to provide safe and effective services.

Our Client Care Team is happy to assist patients in setting up an OnCall Health account in order to receive online video sessions. For more information: https://www.newrootstherapy.com/online-therapy
Additionally, until the risk has passed, we will be waiving our late cancellation fee for appointments cancelled with under 24 hours notice. Missed sessions with no notice will be subject to our regular cancellation policy: https://www.newrootstherapy.com/fees
We understand that online video and/or phone sessions will be an adjustment from in-person sessions, and we welcome any questions or concerns that you may have. Our hope is that, by offering this alternative to meeting in-person, you can stay on track with your health goals this time. We will continue to keep you updated on when we will be resuming in-person sessions.
“what you can do to protect yourself”
Practice good hygiene! Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 30 seconds. Do this often, even if your hands are not visibly soiled. Do this after coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose, being out, touching anything you don't know is clean. Alcohol based hand rubs (aka hand sanitizer), may be used in between hand washing.
Cough or sneeze into your sleeve or elbow
Avoid touching your face (mouth, nose, eyes) or only do so after thoroughly washing your hands
Clean and disinfect surfaces, especially those that are high-touch (e.g. door knobs, counters, key boards, etc)
Do not share anything that has come into contact with saliva, nose or throat secretions (e.g. straws, cups, cigarettes, toothbrush, eating utensils, etc)
If you are sick, please STAY HOME, even if it is not COVID-19. Stop the unnecessary spread of germs. Avoid sick people.
Practice social distancing - maintain at least 6 feet (2 arms length) between you and anyone else.
Follow credible sources for virus and public health updates
